The sophomore release from Dislover presents 6 tracks that splice together mutant strains of dub, psychedelia, ambient, industrial and musique concrète. Several inspirations are heavily ingrained into the record’s DNA, including the exploration of his dad’s formative 60’s psychedelic rock influences; the heady, intoxicating atmosphere of the late-night cityscapes in Michael Mann films; the hypnotic, ethereal repetition of Spacemen 3 records; and the finding of a self-made, unpublished book of his brother’s surrealistic poetry from the ancient days of the early 2000s which provided an endless well of content to draw from. An effort was made to present the music with a sense of immediacy while still delivering a spacious psychedelic experience to get lost inside, from the ruptured sound design of the opening track to the marching dub dirge of the semi title track None in Light, and the end times bass-heavy monolith Death is Eternal Blues closing things out with a sense of both excitement and dread for what comes next.
